"Freedom from Shame"

Shame is the deep-seated feeling that something is wrong with me. Guilt is about what I have done. Shame is about who I am.

Definition of shame: “A painful emotion caused by consciousness of guilt, shortcoming, or impropriety.” Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary

  1. Shame may be transmitted indirectly.
  2. Shame may be transmitted directly.
  3. Wrong Ways to Deal with Shame.
    1. Refusing to feel anything.
    2. Acting shameless.
    3. Rigid moral/religious rules.
    4. Transferring it to other.
    5. Compulsive behavior.
  4. Satan is the Author of Shame.
    1. John 8:44 - "...for he is a liar and the father of lies." NLB
    2. Revelation 12:10 - "...for the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down."
  5. Breaking free from your shame
    1. Acknowledge the struggle.
    2. Accept the spiritual cleansing.

      • Colossians 2:13-15
      • Romans 8:1-2, 33-34
      • John 8:10-11

What are you going to do with your shame and your guilt?  Will you give it to Him?  Lay them at His feet.  He is waiting to receive you, to forgive you, and to heal.  Read Matthew 11:28-30.
