Awana is an international youth program
offered by Arapaho Road Baptist Church as a positive
influence in the development of young people. The
Awana name is derived from an idea in the Bible found in II
Timothy 2:15 which reads, "Approved Workmen
Are Not Ashamed."

The purpose of Awana is stated best in the pledge to the
Awana flag, "I pledge allegiance to the Awana flag, which
stands for the Awana Clubs, whose goal is to reach boys and
girls with the gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him."

The Gospel of Jesus Christ. Everyone is a sinner (Romans
3:23) and in God's eyes deserves eternal punishment in hell
(Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:15). But Jesus Christ, God's
Son, paid the penalty for our sin when He was crucified on
the cross and cross from the dead (Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians
15:3-4). If we trust Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, we
receive God's gift of eternal life in heaven. John 3:16
says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life." Salvation is a free
gift; we cannot buy it or earn it by doing good works
(Ephesians 2:8-9). Instead we must simply accept it. Each
child and leader must understand this important message, for
it is what our Awana Clubs teach and the reason for their
existence.

ARBC Awana Clubs meet weekly on Sunday evenings
from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Weekly meetings for age
3 - 6th grade begin with a
flag ceremony, followed by an exciting game period.
Handbook time allows personal clubber - leader
interaction as young people study and achieve in
Bible study, memorization, and activities. Council
time includes awards, songs, Bible lessons, and
announcements. Trek & Journey have a game time and
handbook time. Bees play games and have a
story time as well as other activities.

The children are recognized for
their achievements in working through their
handbooks. Awards, which are worn on the
uniform, are presented weekly for finishing portions
of each handbook. Awards are also presented
quarterly for Sunday school and Awana club
attendance. Handbooks are designed so the
average child can finish a book in a single club
year.

completion of the first handbook.
Second Handbook
Sparks receive a larger ribbon for the
completion of two consecutive handbooks.

All Sparks who complete all three Sparks
handbooks receive a plaque plus a pin to wear on
their uniform. This pin may also be worn on their
uniform when they graduate to the next Awana Club.

two handbooks (Third-12th Grade).
Third Book Award

handbooks (Third-12th Grade).

12th grade Awana handbooks/manuals.
Children receive "Awana shares" for
various reasons: attendance, wearing uniform,
sections completed, etc. The Awana store is
located in the back hallway of the Worship Center
Building--across from the nursery and is open from
4:30pm-5:00pm each Sunday evening. Clubbers may
use their Awana shares to purchase things from the
Awana store. top

2009-2010 Registration
Form (RTF verson)
Please complete your registration form and medical release (1 per child) and
bring it to the Awana Desk in the Children's Building. The medical release
needs to be notarized and a notary is usually available at the Awana Desk to
do the notarizing of your form.
Your child may visit 3 times before
dues are required. Dues must be paid before
your child can receive their awards.
The Awana desk is where you may also go to for
any information you may need about our Awana clubs.

First, come to the Awana desk in the Children's Building
and complete a registration form for each of your children. We will
help you and your child locate the room where your child will meet at the
beginning of each Awana night and make sure you know where to pick them
up.
You are welcome to observe your child, but you will be
required to get a guest badge.

Dues
Dues are used to cover the operation
expenses including necessary equipment, materials,
incentives, awards, contests, etc. The dues
vary from club to club. See the Chart below
for dues for your club.
Handbooks
The first Entrance Book is free. If
needed, replacements are available for $.25.
Upon completion of the Entrance Booklet, a one-year
club handbook is required to continue the program.
Clubbers are encouraged to write their names in ink
on their handbooks to prevent misplacement or loss
at club meetings.
Uniforms
Upon completion of the entrance booklet, a clubber
is eligible to wear the Awana uniform. We
encourage each clubber to purchase and to wear the
uniform to club each week. Awana requires that
a clubber must have a uniform in order to receive
the awards he has earned. Also, team points
are given at club meetings to clubbers who are in
uniform. Uniforms may be purchased at the
Awana Registration table.

a club, they do not need to purchase a new book
until they have finished their prior book.
